Abstract :
Unique words are inserted in a transmitted data stream in communications. A typical example is a synchronization word for frame detection. To make the inserted word unique, a stuffing procedure can be applied to the stream. The detection of the inserted unique word is important, and the detection of the inserted word for stuffing as well. The detection is required to be robust against the transmission errors in wireless environments. The data stream is protected by error correction encoding and the codeword stream is transmitted in such environments. Assuming systematic encoding, the codeword stream consists of the data stream and the parity check stream. This study proposes a technique to improve the detection performances of these inserted words using both the received data stream and the received parity check stream.
