Abstract :
This paper addresses the problem of semantic support for multimedia information systems. The problem has become very important in the “infotainment” environment, which utilizes very large amounts of bitstream data. This voice, audio, picture, video, text etc., data has a very low semantic meta-information content. Further, the paper presents the Multimedia Information System (MMIS) which contains semantic support for efficient navigation in the hypermedia knowledge base. This system uses semantic nets as a formalized basis for knowledge representation of collected heterogeneous data
