Abstract :
Reverse engineering is the process of extracting the solid features from the measured point data of the existing parts. Using the existing reverse engineering measuring methods to capture image of a part with complex internal and external surface profile, is especially difficult to meet the needs of high accuracy and low cost. Based on the cross-sectional imaging measurement system of CNC milling machine, the method of capturing intact profiled outline of complex parts was related, at the same time, the principle and architecture of the system was described. Furthermore, some key techniques to implement the measuring system were discussed in detail, such as the encapsulation technology of measured parts and the design of cross-sectional image acquisition system. Finally, the applications of this measuring method in reverse engineering were described by taking spinning-organ rotor and complex drill as examples.
