Abstract :
Different from the tooth profile modification, a design of the holey straight bevel gear is proposed. Based on the sphere involutes deduced with the engaging principle, the precise model is established by Pro/E in the first place. Then the finite element model is established in HyperWorks and the transmission error is analyzed. Finally taking transmission error together with mesh impact as the dynamic excitation, the dynamic models of the holey straight bevel gear are built and the acceleration mean square of the dynamic steady state response is applied to express the vibration and noise subsequently. The result shows that, comparing with the ordinary gears the holey gears have better performance on the reduction of vibration and noise.
