Abstract :
We propose the multicarrier trellis coded slow FH/16QAM with an interference immunity decoding method to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance in digital land mobile communications. In our scheme, we estimate the power of the co-channel interference (CCI) using space symbols inserted in several slots to obtain the weight value per carrier. We carry out the immunity decoding method considering the amplitude of the interference symbols in calculating the branch metric. The BER performance of the system is investigated by computer simulation. It is shown that the performance of the proposed system is affected by the CCI per carrier. This scheme is more effective in restraining the effects of CCI especially for the uplink of cellular systems and in the case where the processing delay time is restricted, such as in mobile speech communications, compared with traditionally decoding
