Abstract :
Through analyzing deficiencies of the traditional assembly process design, and applying Design For Assembly (DFA) and digital assembly technology, the functional structure of a three-dimensional assembly system is proposed and studied. Based on the secondary development technology of SolidWorks, the virtual assembly system for a typical printing press is designed. Applications of key technologies are explored, which include the capture and presentation of assembly modeling information, interactive assembly planning and simulation in a three-dimensional environment and on-site demo and training. The applications of the developed assembly system demonstrate that the secondary development based on SolidWorks can reduce both the development time and cost drastically, and the developed system offers guidance on both the assembly process design and the actual assembly.
