Abstract :
In the first section of our paper, test measurement of fluctuation loads on a real large-scale metropolitan power system are presented. As should be expected from the theory, the fluctuation load proves to follow the normal distribution with near-zero mean value. The fluctuation load is largest in the demand rising time of morning and lunchtime domains. Then, a dynamic fluctuation load model is derived from a study of the field test results. Finally, we analyze the effectiveness of this LFC control for DC and FC active power flows in reducing frequency fluctuation in the three AC power systems by using our dynamic load model. We performed these computations of 2001 the summer peak condition (total power demand 172.22GW) in Japan. Our simulation analyses reveal that the LFC controlled power system perform as if they were interconnected with AC the power system by optimal setting of a LFC control gain of DC and FC active power flows.
