Abstract
We describe a novel approach for synthesizing a desired response using an optical lattice equalizer. We demonstrate the simultaneous compensation of polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in 5 channels by minimizing the maximum differential group delay (DGD) across the band. The same approach can be applied to equalize other transmission parameters of the communication channel such as the chromatic dispersion (CD) and the gain.
