Abstract :
In this paper, excitation control mode of a generalized GE 1.5MW doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG) is studied, and its effect on power system voltage stability is discussed. The study focuses on the four excitation control mode. They are constant power factor control with/without terminal voltage feedback, and constant voltage control with/without terminal voltage feedback. In addition, key parameters of excitation control of DFIG are put forward. The simulation in Zhangjiakou wind farm in China is carried out and results show that constant voltage control of DFIG has an advantage over constant power factor control, and DFIG with optimized parameters could greatly improve electromechanical transient stability.
