Abstract
In this work, the problem of chip waveform selection in asynchronous DS-CDMA systems with a decentralized receiving structure is investigated. The receiving structure is capable of suppressing multiple access interference (MAI). Aperiodic random signature sequences are employed in the DS-CDMA system. Performance bounds based on the signal-to-noise ratio of the decision statistic provided by the receiver are obtained. Using the bounds as performance measures, the use of different chip waveforms in DS-CDMA systems with the proposed receiver is examined
