Abstract
This paper describes simulation and experiment of a noble fuel injection system for a marine diesel engine, which uses direct drive volume control (DDVC). The DDVC consists of an electric motor, a constant displacement pump, and a cylinder. The pump speed is controlled by the electric motor. With the DDVC, the fuel injection system has capability of electric control. A mathematical model of the fuel injection system is proposed. Fundamental performance of the noble fuel injection system is verified by experiment and simulation.
