Abstract :
This paper introduces a new numerical convolution algorithm, which unlike conventional techniques can compute very precise response when used in the response analysis for the lightning impulse voltage measuring system. A virtual measuring system´s unit step response, whose analytical expression is given, is used to analyse the chopped impulse voltage as well as full wave. Its impulse response, which can analytically be obtained, is compared with the numerical results processed with propose technique and with two other conventional methods. While all three techniques can attain the same precision for the full impulse analysis, only the proposed technique can maintain the precision when the front-chopped impulse voltage´s response is required.
