Abstract :
Software reuse is a simple and well-known idea. The main obvious benefits of implementing software reuse are increased productivity, reduced time to market and improved quality. The results of economic cost-benefit analyses indicate reuse can provide a substantial return on investment. During the past ten years (and even more), software reuse was widely researched and experimented, with impressive results, in a wide variety of software developing organizations. This paper presents a collaborative effort of leading Israeli companies, to study and implement software reuse in their product lines. A consortium of eight companies teamed up, supported by the Israeli ministry of commerce and industry, to initiate a three-year project of software reuse introduction.
