Abstract
We consider the estimation and equalization problem of FIR channels with a chaotic transmitter. We introduce a Gaussian filter to estimate both channel taps and transmitted symbols. The results confirm that the Gaussian filter is robust to the initial error and may work well even under bad initial conditions. This method significantly improves the EKF-based blind equalization, especially when there is poor a-priori knowledge of the initial state.
