Abstract :
A new kind of full rate full diversity space time code is proposed to obtain transmit diversity gain in frequency selective channels. The code is named space time interleaving code (STIC) due to interleaving of symbols at different antennas. It is shown that STIC with random interleavers satisfies full diversity criteria in frequency selective block fading channel. Moreover, interleavers embedded in the scheme facilitates iterative decoder design. Its complexity grows approximately linearly with the number of transmit antennas. Compared with other schemes in multi-path channels, STIC provides a competitive tradeoff between rate, diversity and complexity. Numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the new scheme.
