Abstract

Deaths and injuries caused by lightning in the State of Pará, Brazil, for the period between 2001 and 2012, were analyzed regarding: (a) the localization of the cases (b); ration between deaths and survivors per year (c) professional activities of the fatal victims; (d) gender; (e) age group; (f) circumstances of the accident; and (g) economic losses, based on relevant facts and convergences for subsequent analyzes integrated, which will contribute to the accidents prevention, in order to serve as a model for other Amazonian states.
