Abstract
Although product definition and subsequent pricing is crucial to any business, those engaged in the production of rough and completely machined forging have an exceptionally difficult task. This paper describes an expert-bidding tool developed for the manufacturer of custom steel products. The design methodology uses object oriented principles in representing the human expertise. The object model is implemented through a relational database system utilizing Microsoft Access 97
