This paper provides a detailed discussion on the simulation of a landing gear retraction /extension(R/E) system. Section 2 of the full paper presents a general description of the R/E system and its retraction procedure. A mathematical model of the R/E system is introduced by Section 3, which gives a basic idea for numerically modeling this mechanism. Section 4 brings up the procedures for constructing the simulation model in LMS Virtual. Lab Motion and Imagine.Lab AMEsim. After analyzing the simulation results of the kinematics and the hydraulic and pneumatic features in section 5, we draw the conclusion that the R/E system design satisfies the requirements imposed by AFSC DH2-1, and measures should be taken to minimize its internal impact.
