Abstract
Isolation is a critical problem in the design of MIMO antennas and diversity antennas because it deteriorates the performance of multi-antenna system. In this paper, a dual-slot diversity antenna with isolation enhancement using parasitic elements for mobile handsets is presented. It consists of two symmetric slot elements. In order to improve the isolation, two parasitic monopole elements are added. The measured results show that the two slot elements are well matched in the whole UMTS band where the -6 dB criterion (VSWR < 3) is satisfied. Meanwhile, across the band high isolation (S21 < -18.5 dB) is obtained. Moreover, the antenna can provide pattern diversity to mitigate multipath fading.
