Abstract
Xenon flash for photography has always been important for achieving good images. This need has increased in importance in recent years. This is due to the advent of CMOS image sensors which have a lower sensitivity to light compared to the traditional CCD image sensors. The need has also been fuelled by the recent incorporation of cameras into mobile phones. The need for cheap cameras with good quality images has made the need for xenon flash an absolute necessity. The xenon flashlamp is normally placed in an optical sub-assembly Dimensional variation and relative positioning of flash tube assembly have a great influence on its optical performance as demonstrated by experimental and simulation results. The mechanical assembly has to be properly designed to achieve required optical performance.
