Abstract :
An 80 Gbit/s optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) system constructed entirely with electroabsorption modulators (EAM) is presented. Tandem EAMs with dual frequency drive generate 4.5 ps pulses. A low polarisation sensitivity EAM demultiplexer enables error free operation with a sensitivity of -21.5 dBm
