Abstract :
The mechanical fit between the connecting rod´s small head and the bush is a typical interference fit. The thick cylinder model is applied to calculate the theoretical stress on the surface of the small head for this fit. By the contact finite element method, the simulation model is used to get the stress and deformation by constructing the true interference of fit bodies. The stress on the connecting rod´s small head surface is measured by interference fit experiment, the result of the theoretical model and the finite element method model is also validated. This paper analyses the simulation error of the interference fit and evaluates the thick cylinder model. The law, how the bush outface shape and position error, interference, the thickness of it have an influence on the interference fit status, is obtained.
