Abstract :
The composite material towers used in 110kV overhead transmission lines are designed for the first time in China, by utilising composite material´s features of good insulation, corrosion resisting and lighter weight etc. After verifying 2 kinds of typical composite material´s basic performances, overall testing the mechanical and electrical performances for the designed whole towers under various conditions, and adopting special design for the lightning protection grounding method, we finally achieved success in trial operation for 3 composite material towers in Shenzhen, for the first time in China. The comprehensive analysis on technology, economy and related aspects indicates: composite material towers used in overhead transmission lines have wide and bright prospect in application.
