Abstract
Summary form only given. This paper presents the applications of meta-heuristics to power systems in Japan with regard to future issues and perspectives. Meta-heuristics is defined as an optimization technique that makes use of heuristics or rules to obtain a better solution. What was found as the practical applications may be given as follows: distribution system operation planning; distribution network expanding planning; distribution generation planning; short-term load forecasting; unit commitment; VAr operation planning; and voltage and reactive power control.
