Abstract :
Low threshold current DFB lasers have been analysed for burst mode operation in a point to point access network of 8 km. These DFB lasers are zero biased and operate at 155 Mbit/s without any electronic feedback control to compensate threshold, turn on delay and efficiency. The BER measurement at 155 Mbit/s for temperature ranging from 20° up to 80°C show that at 60° the sensitivity degrades by 4 dB and at 80°C by 9 dB
