Abstract
Novel methods for optical network fault detection (monitoring) and for alarm indication signal (AIS) transfer are proposed to realize an optical self-healing network. Within 0.8msec fast optical self-healing switching capability has been confirmed by using a prototype 8×8 optical cross-connect system (OXCS)
