Abstract

In this paper, an electronical solution for collecting visual analogue scales (VAS) and health assessment using an universal serial bus (USB) controller is introduced. Our novel device is called USB-VAS. In addition, the implementation details and the operation principle of the USB-VAS device is provided. The USB-VAS device is very easy-to-use and it also reduces the workload of nurses and doctors. Moreover, clinical test results among rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients are presented. Some ideas to further improve both the usability and accuracy of the USB-VAS device are also proposed.
