Abstract
Current information center (IC) practices are compared with practices prescribed in the literature. This has been accomplished by surveying several southern California ICs using semistructured questionnaires during onsite interviews. Preliminary findings based on data from three sites are reported. The results were mixed, showing both convergence and divergence with prescriptions in the literature
