Abstract :
The authors describe how staffing levels at a major three-hospital medical center were reduced over 37% while new services such as case-mix management, micro costing and databases were implemented. It is shown how the use of microcomputer end-user systems significantly reduced staffing costs while at the same time allowing expansion and improvement of financial services
