Abstract :
Switching over-voltage level plays a decisive role on the UHV equipments selection and equipment costs. This paper discussed the suppress effects of different methods. Two novel surge arresters under developing are introduced. Presently, the closing resistors are added to suppress the switching overvoltage, if low-residual arresters can be put into operation, the closing resistors need not be added.
