Abstract :
Ultra-wide-band PD detection techniques have the capacity to enhance the amount of information obtained about the measured PD activity. The UWB method is not without its problems. The physical arrangement of the test circuit plays an important part in the response obtained. Despite this obvious dependency, the test circuit configuration is often not acknowledged in papers reporting UWB measurements. Therefore, it seemed appropriate to conduct a systematic study of the relationship between the arrangement of a typical PD test circuit, its electrical parameters and the resulting response in terms of the measured PD pulse waveforms. This paper describes some findings of this study.
