Abstract :
A new powering approach must be undertaken for emerging telecommunication networks. Traditional central office powering schemes are inappropriate, unmanageable and must be adapted for new applications. Networks are being planned and implemented that use transmission technologies such as fiber optics and wireless to carry information directly into the home and office. These noncopper based systems do not lend themselves well to carrying the power needed by the subscriber electronics that translate electromagnetic waves into useful forms of communication
