Abstract
In this contribution a new method of designing a double negative (DNG) material is proposed. It is based on the propagation properties of rectangular waveguides under cut-off and on the possibility of obtaining single-negative (SNG) effective properties with simple-structured dielectric composite materials. The propagation properties are then numerically investigated by using a three-dimensional finite-element (FE) simulator
