  • Abstract
Longitudinal slope section of the road is high frequency location of traffic accidents. In order to improve the road safety, the paper was based on the traffic engineering, applying psychology and other theories, and used the advanced GPS, MC5600 and other testing equipments to detect and investigate the road alignment, speed, driver´s heart and physiological responses and traffic characteristics on the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. Mining processing the testing data based on theoretical analysis, constructed the mathematical model of the longitudinal slope based on the running speed. Combining with the driver´s heart and physiological responses, the range of longitudinal slope was determined in the design of plateau road alignment. It provides technical support for the design and transformation of the road in the plateau area, and it also provides new evidence for the amendment of national design specification.
