Abstract :
This paper presents a novel base station (BS) cooperation scheme to address issues on fatal links experienced by cell-edge users based on bit interleaved repetition coded (BIRC) concatenated structures for downlink OFDM scenarios. A primary focus is on employing independent random interleavers in cooperating BSs following by BS cooperation which may be regarded as the repetition code. In early works related to the BS cooperation, the main paradigm was just for an enhancement of signal levels after a signal combining, in terms of improvements of channel capacity. However, in order to achieve the enhanced channel capacity, we have to design not only appropriate channel codes but also perfect channel state information (CSI) notifications. The proposed simple BIRC based BS cooperation technique has a potential to overcome above mentioned issues through unified design via an iterative fashion. In this paper, high diversity and coding gains of BIRC based BS cooperation are observed in computer simulations, comparing to an Alamouti´s STBC based BS cooperation scheme.
