Abstract
Sodium bentonite was used as major raw material in sintering sulphoaluminate cement clinker successfully in the laboratory. An investigation was made into the sintering condition and mechanical performance based on the X-ray diffraction (XRD). The result shows that the clinker can be sintered properly at the temperatures of 1350 °C and sintered time of 120 min. It also showed that the amount of dihydrate gypsum strongly influenced the early strength, which was determined by testing the mechanical property of cement paste. The research possessed a certain theoretical and practical value for reference in exploitation of bentonite resource.
