Abstract :
We transmitted 10-Gbit/s over 80-km of single mode fibre, using a negative-chirp electro-absorption modulator integrated DFB laser diode and an avalanche photodiode (APD) receiver. This was accomplished without the use of optical amplifiers or dispersion compensation fibres
