Abstract :
Optical data transmission of 1 Gbit/s employing uniform, 850 nm wavelength, 1×16 laterally oxidized 1-D VCSEL arrays suitable for WDM applications is reported. Individual elements show threshold currents below 500 μA, single-mode output power of 2.8 mW, and 40% conversion efficiencies
