Abstract
The ARCOPS, automatic recognition and correction of poor spooling, system pertains to winding magnet wire or uninsulated wire onto spools within wire manufacturing facilities. The ARCOPS system strives to eliminate tangled wire. It achieves this by minimizing an excess or shortage of wire adjacent to the top and bottom spool flanges. When this excess or shortage, known as poor spooling, occurs, the wire can fall down during shipment and dereeling, resulting in tangles. The author describes this system which can be applied to spools of all shapes and sizes. Either or both of the spool flanges may be flat or tapered. The spool barrel may be cylindrical or tapered. Presently, spool capacities range from three pounds to 1000 pounds
