China is striving to build "smooth, efficient, safe, green" transport system, which demand highway to meet traffic safety functional requirements and ensure the safety of roadside ecological environment as well. A lot of research in highway traffic safety at home and abroad have been carried out and achieved considerable results. However, there are few researches to combine the highway traffic safety and ecological environment safety together. In this paper, roadside ecological risk is taken into account and is combined with road traffic safety to make analysis and assessment. Concept and method of highway transport environment safety assessment are analyzed based on combining highway traffic safety and ecological environmental safety. It is proved that the method can improve the efficiency of highway safety facilities invest though the application study of the highway in Guangdong, which would have an important theoretical and practical significance in building the safe highway transport environment system and the promotion of highway ecological environmental protection and sustainable development.
