Abstract :
An optical backplane for >1 Gbit/s board-to-board communication in processor environments is presented. The backplane contains multimode polymer waveguides with an attenuation of 1 dB/m. No optical connectors are required, the lateral positioning tolerances between board and backplane are ±1 mm
