Abstract :
Modern communication, networking, and multimedia technologies make it possible to distribution image and video electronically. More and more digital images and videos are available to the average users. Consequently, more and more users start to access digital image and video by means of new ways, such as through the Internet. Meanwhile, businesses also start seeking new technologies to enable new services that can accommodate the new trend. Techniques that facilitate easy and quick browsing, retrieval, manipulation, and secure access, transaction and purchasing of multimedia content through new communication channels are thus needed in order to provide new services. In this paper we propose a fast image/video retrieval methodology for easy and quick browsing and searching large image and video databases. Retrieval is done directly on the compressed images and videos, which enables real time performance
