Abstract :
A multiresolution lossless image compression technique called hierarchical interpolation (HINT) has been shown to be very effective for compression of medical images. The HINT algorithm has an aliasing problem with textures having spatial frequencies greater than the Nyquist limit imposed by its subsampling. One method of addressing the aliasing problem is to divide the image into regions and make the blocksize used in each region dependent on the frequency content of that region
