Abstract :
For the past two years a group of telecommunications network operators (GX), supported by leading equipment manufacturers, have undertaken a major international initiative to create requirement specifications for access systems supporting a full range of narrowband and broadband services. This paper will describe the strategic aims of the initiative and report progress to date
