            Abstract :
One of the main problems associated with object based video coding systems, is how to efficiency extract objects. MPEG-4 is an object based system using video object planes (VOPs), however MPEG-4 does not define how VOPs are extracted from video sequences. This article presents a human visual system based technique for extracting objects, that combines motion segmentation, image segmentation, and a contrasted image to extract objects, that can be applied to VOP extraction
