Abstract :
We have proposed a periodically loaded leaky wave antenna based on the characteristic of left handed wave guide of TM mode. Radiation efficiency of the antenna was analyzed with a help of singular perturbation procedure, and it was numerically estimated as a function of antenna length. Experiment was performed using a left handed TEM microstrip line with double periodic structure of inductance loading. Radiation pattern was measured for the analyzed antenna, and it displayed the expected left handed leaky antenna behavior.
