Abstract :
Left-handed nonlinear transmission line is an idea system to investigate the wave propagation phenomena in media that combine nonlinearity with anomalous dispersion exhibited by left-handed materials. By shortening the dispersion length and nonlinear length, and at the same time increasing the dissipation of the transmission line unit cell, we successfully realize steady dark Schrodinger solitons in a short nonlinear left-handed transmission line for the first time. The evolution of a Gaussian pulse both in time and in frequency domain shows that increasing the dissipation in the metamaterials is helpful to reduce the energy that prevents the steady soliton formation. The establishing of the Schrodinger solitons also results in harmonic generations in the transmission line, which could be useful to some applications in communication systems.
