Abstract
This paper presents the study of thermally-induced mechanical stresses in a ferrite core of a power transformer operating under normal conditions, and during the thermal-shock tests. The absolute stress levels and the location of the most critically stressed parts have been identified. Also, methods for testing the strength of a ferrite core half have been analyzed
