Abstract :
A remote maintenance strategy for NET/ITER (Next European Torus/International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) has been developed, which includes R&D to establish standard components and design activities using computer-aided engineering (CAE), to develop equipment for in-vessel and ex-vessel maintenance. The integration of these activities with the design of the NET machine is achieved through the development of a remote handling manual linked to the NET Integrated Database. The use of CAE equipped with software for producing kinematic and dynamic simulations has been shown to be a powerful tool in developing solutions to remote maintenance problems
