Abstract :
This paper presents a new approach to detect a human face in a gray-level image using genetic algorithms. A simple and efficient face geometry model is designed according to the human face geometrical configuration, and the face gray distribution model is designed to remove the false face region further. A genetic algorithm is used to search the input image simultaneously for potential face regions at different scales. The experiments show that our method can locate face areas in the complex background effectively.
